Let's Talk Religion

When someone suggests talking about religion, how do you respond? A lot of people are a little hesitant to talk about religion because they are used to it being a topic that invites a lot of controversy. This is too bad. There are a lot of great conversations to have about religion, if only we can all agree to be open and understanding. That's the position we aim to take on this blog. We write about religion-related topics from an objective standpoint, and we try to welcome all viewpoints. Start reading this blog, and you might learn a bit about religion, but also about talking about religion.

Breathe In, Breathe Out: Three 90-Second Meditations You Can't Miss

Kurt Morales

For those who complain that they never have time to meditate, there's good news! Simply visualizing a meditation for at least 90 seconds is an excellent way to bring this practice into your daily routine. Here are three examples of some very simple 90-second meditations that can easily fit into any lifestyle.

Lake of Serenity

If you're looking for a fast and easy way to relax into a good night's sleep, try this simple meditation. Imagine yourself at the edge of a tranquil, still lake. The waters are clear, glassy, and reflect the beautiful surroundings of a clear morning sky and forest treetops. A small boat awaits you at the edge of this lake. As you slowly climb in, the boat gently takes you out to the center of the lake. There, in the middle of the serene lake, you begin to relax and let the day dissolve around you. All you hear is the lapping of water at the boat's edges and the faint songs of birds nearby. The lake of serenity allows you to drift into a relaxed state.

Your Body is a Temple

This meditation is perfect for those looking to feel more self-love or comfort with their own bodies. Imagine yourself taking a stroll through a dense forest. You come upon a temple, which may be old, abandoned, or in disrepair. As you notice tools around you, you begin to carefully reconstruct this temple. You repaint the walls, carefully ensuring to provide an even coat. You hammer in some rooftop tiles to prevent a leak from occurring during a storm. You clear out any debris from the floors. Looking around, you notice the temple has been restored to its original glory. Consider your body as the temple and the work you took to care for the temple as caring for your own physical being.

Desert Sunrise

Perfect for those looking for some morning motivation, this simple meditation will take you into the heart of the desert. Picture yourself standing in a desert at dawn. As the sun slowly rises on the horizon, you notice the world around you coming to life. A soft, warm light spills on the cacti, illuminating their prickles and flowers. Small lizards excitedly scurry across the ground, ready to look for their own breakfast. The air becomes clear, fresh, and is rejuvenating to breathe in. As the desert around you is illuminated by the morning sun, the sounds of life come alive. Birds chirp and a brisk wind blows by. You are now ready to start your day!
